Come On Up to the House by Dane Cobain

I do love a good horror book. Anything with haunted houses makes my day (or night…since I can only read before bed).

The Plot

Doesn’t life seem nasty, brutish and short? This horror novella and accompanying screenplay tells the story of Darran Jersey, a troubled teenager who moves into a house that’s inhabited by the malevolent spirit of his predecessor.

As time goes by and the family begins to settle, Darran begins to take on more and more of the qualities of James, the dead teenager who committed a bloody suicide.

As tragedy after tragedy threatens to destroy the family, Darran’s mother Alice decides to leave the house behind and start afresh, but is it too late? Find out when you Come On Up to the House…

My point of view:

Come On Up to the House is… a raw book. When I say raw, not only for the language (but the main character is a teenager…a troubled one) but because… well you know that mixed feeling when you read something that is so detailed and so disturbing, that is invading your energy? Now mix that with a sleep deprived mum…

The 1st night I started reading the book, I was constantly closing the book and opening it. it was giving me the creeps but that meant that it was a good book. A horror book that makes you feel uneasy… it’s because it’s well written.

But I just couldn’t stop reading it, so in 3 days i read the whole book.

Do you love a good gory horror book/movie? Than take a look at Dane Cobain’s book. Definitely recommend it!

  • I consider this book for 15+ (mature scenes, blood and violence)
