Degustabox of June 2016 and 2 Recipes of the Day

June 2016 Brings BBQ to the table with light products.

Take a look on what was inside and my Recipes using the ingredients provided:

  • Pesto Shirataki Pasta with Shrimps
  • Smoked Turkey Burgers

 

June means the start of the BBQ season, vacation and lot’s of sun (supposedly of course)… In the UK you never know as the Uk saying says: You have the 4 seasons in 1 day!

Let’s see what brings the Degustabox of June

Sacla Pesto Pots (4) excellent taste and practical since you don’t use a full pack of pesto and normally it will go to waste on the fridge.

 

Organic Shirataki Angel Hair Noodle. I tried it and loved it, it’s a bit chewy but mixed with the right condiments it will taste wonderful, plus it has 6 calories per 200gr, because is made from Konjac. Tasty pasta for those who want to get fitter. I will buy more for sure.

 

Haywards Silverskin Onions – We Don’t consume onions at home as they go to waste easily, but this one’s can help in some cooking.

 

Amoy Coconut Milk – Amoy is a good oriental brand that I normally use and of excellent quality. 

Schwartz Grill Mates in American Smokehouse – excellent flavour! 
Make your own burgers as they will taste better and has your touch. 

Branston Relish in Spicy Tomato (with chilli & Jalapeno) – Not for those who don’t like spicy, which we love it here at home (or wouldn’t I be Latina).

Smooze fruit Ice in coconut and mango – This tiny ice creams are full of fresh flavour and without any preservatives. A great treat for kids and adults. Recommend it!

 

 

Bakedin Chocolate Brownie Mix – I had previously worked with Bakedin (miss you guys!) and is one of the best brand in the food area I have tasted. Easy and quick for a snack or that sweet tooth craving, their ingredients are from 1st class. Recommend highly!!

 

Belgian Butters Waffle Crisps – When I saw these my eyes sparkled. My Italian nonna (grandmother in italian) used to make these for me. I found them similar in Portugal but never here in the UK…and now they are here. Lovely taste of homemade, perfect for tea or coffee. RJ loved it.

 

Butterkist Yogurt coated popcorn – Butterkist is a good popcorn of brand, but i am not very fond of the yogurt coated things (popcorns, raisins, fruit), so… I am not saying is bad, no not at all, it’s not of my liking.

 

Wychwood King Star Lager – Serve really chilled and it’s great with the recipe below.

 

Zeo Cloudy Lemon water – water infused with lemon and low in calories….excellent chilled!

Pesto Shirataki Pasta with Shrimps

Ingredients

  • 200g Shirataki pasta
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Salt
  • Fresh Coriander
  • 2 Tbsp of Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp of Pesto or 1 individual Sacla Pesto pot
  • 150g large prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 80g grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

 

Let’s Cook!
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Add Shirataki pasta and cook for 3 minutes and drain. Reserve.
  • Meanwhile, in a large frying pan, add the Olive Oil over medium heat. Stir in the prawns, add salt, pepper and fresh coriander, cook until they turn pink, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the Shirataki pasta and the pesto, fold the ingredients.
  • Optional: Stir Parmesan cheese into the frying pan, folding until thoroughly mixed. Serve.

Smoked Turkey Burgers

Ingredients for Burgers

1Kg of Minced Turkey meat
1 packet of Schwartz Grill Mates in American Smokehouse
Fresh Parsley and Coriander
Black Pepper and Rosemary
Haywards Onions (3) finely chopped
2 garlic cloves finely chopped
Side
Sweet potato chips in the Oven
Let’s Cook!
In a large bowl, add the mince meat, the pepper, parley, coriander, onions, rosemary and garlic. Give a good mix.
Add to the mix the Swartz Grill Mate packet and mix again.
Take the mix to the fridge for 30 minutes so it will stick better and not be too gloopy.
Meanwhile put cut the Sweet Potatoes in chips, add olive oil and salt and rosemary and put in a non stick tray n the oven for 25 minutes or until is cooked (and not burned).
After the 30 minutes, take the mixed meat and a large tray and start making little balls.
When you are going to grill them, shape them in burger shape and grill, fry or BBQ.
Serve with the sweet potato chips and with a fresh Lager such as Kings Star or a Zeo chilled and add a bit of Branstons relish for a spicy kick.
