Family Day out – Sea Life Birmingham

The National SEA LIFE Centre is an aquarium with over 60 displays of freshwater and marine life in Brindleyplace, Birmingham, UK.

Its one-million-litre ocean tank houses giant green sea turtles, blacktip reef sharks and tropical reef fish, with the UK’s only fully transparent 360 degree underwater tunnel. The building was designed by Sir Norman Foster.

And it was our time to visit it!

First and Foremost – The tickets deal!

As a family and on the present day, I think I am not the only one saying this, I am always on a budget and try my best to have fun things and new things to do.
One of the things I always read on the internet about Sea Life, is people saying they don’t have the resources (kaching) to go.
When I asked most of them if they had seen the website, because normally the website of an attraction had really good deals, most of them (if not all) said: I didn’t knew they had a website.

Yes they do have a website and they have a really good deal for Mums (or dads) with a child ticket deal:

If you add an adult in the same order it will be a good value ticket since it will be cheaper than buying the ticket on site or on some websites I have seen saying they have good deals. They don’t.

Now let me show you the photos of Sea Life and the First Fishy trip of RJ.

Lovely Sunny day in Birmingham

A great walk along the canals to the Sea Life

The entrance

This pic looks like they are static…
but see the video below)

This part is so calm and neon…
No flash allowed but some people simply don’t want to know
and take pictures with flash…poor animals!
(not the ones that took the flash pics…the fish)

Lots of activities for the kids with tunnels
and hidden places.

The cool thing about Sea Life, is the schedule of talks with the carers or even touching some of the animals (I touched the starfish) or see them eating.

The atmosphere was great, and is such a calm place for the kids and they get interested with all the things they can do on Sea Life.

You have a 4D Cinema, with chairs that move, but I think is suitable for 3+, RJ is 18 months now, and I thought it could be too noisy or the size of the movie could make him startle (note: the cinema is great! I just got of because I think he might get scared about something, but when he is older we will see the movie).

RJ was more interested in the 3D glasses than the movie,
still he is only a Tot.

The 360 Degree tunnel was great but unfortunately Sea Life is having some repairs done and we couldn’t see the whole of it, which was a bit of annoying. So let’s hope the work will be quick and we can see it fully.

Arts Dad (my sweet male model *wink*) was attracting
some sharks with his Dirty Velvet Tshirt.

Plus we got to know that on Sea Life Birmingham, they breed a lot of species and send to other Sea Lifes and Zoos.

Impressive: Shark and Ray Eggs are breed like this!
These are live, it will be born in here and then go
to the big tank when they are ready.

And by the end, before the shop, you have a bar and the kids play area, if you want something to drink and rest while kids can play a bit.

And on the Sea Life shop, my son decided that he should be friends with the best creature he had found… an moray eel!

A fun day really!
If you are planning to go to Birmingham and to Sea Life, I really Recommend it!
