Using Aromatherapy in your home

Every single one of us loves their home smelling great and clean.

But sometimes, with daily life stress, problems, lack of time, our home becomes with dull and that reflects in us and the energy in our house.

Lack of sleeping, stressed times, depression, etc can happen.

So I decided to talk about one thing it always uplifts our mood at home and I think you will like it too.

Aromatherapy is something I have been practicing for years in my house, life and way of thinking.

Meditating or not, choosing the wright scent can do wonders for our home and family, and our energy surrounding us.

So what is Aromatherapy (quoting Naha.Org):

Aromatherapy, also referred to as Essential Oil therapy, can be defined as the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.  It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual’s innate healing process.

It was the French perfumer and chemist, Rene- Maurice Gattefosse, who coined the term “aromatherapie” in 1937 with his publication of a book by that name. His book “Gattefosse’s Aromatherapy” contains early clinical findings for utilizing essential oils for a range of physiological ailments. It seems vital to understand what Gattefosse’s intention for coining the word was, as he clearly meant to distinguish the medicinal application of essential oils from their perfumery applications.

So we can interpret his coining of the word “Aromatherapie” to mean the therapeutic application or the medicinal use of aromatic substances (essential oils) for holistic healing. As the practice of aromatherapy has progressed, over the years, it has adopted a more holistic approach encompassing the whole body, mind and spirit (energy).

For me is a way of “healing” with scents and smells in a natural way.

It can be used as:

  • drops in water (diffused),
  • scented candles,
  • Incense,
  • adding some drops on your vacuum cleaner (like in the filter or directly in the vacuum bag),
  • spray (diluting some drops in water and put on a spray bottle, example: lavender in pillows),
  • Warm or cold bags filled with herbs or with absorbed drops,
  • drops mixed in oil (such as almond oil) for body massage,
  • etc.

Now with Christmas, and to be even more Christmassy here at home, I like to have scents with spices to warm up the room and feel comfortable.

there are some places i like to get my oils, specially 100% natural extract oils, and you can search for them online, just make sure they are of good quality (cheap doesn’t mean good in this subject) and from sustainable sources.

Now with my moving, I decided to get some new things from Amphora Aromatics from their new range of Home Decor

Making some time for decor at home and creating ambiances

They smells wonderfully, like proper scent, not those that fade away as soon as you take them out of the box, and are really accessible to anyone.

My house now just needs Christmas coming soon and some stockings hanged up.

How do you use Aromatherapy in your home and life?
