VegfestUK Bristol 2017

That’s right!! It’s THIS WEEKEND!!

This May 20-21 at the Amphitheatre in Bristol (see address below) the VegFestUK is going to be filled of cultures, food, drinks, healthy treats and Cruelty/Allergy free.

I will be there on both days so don’t forget to say Hi and possibly be featured in my videos and Blog with some nice selfies in the way!

Foodies are set to be drooling at the prospect of feasting at the upcoming VegfestUK Bristol event, where there’ll be wave after wave of saliva-inducing vegan food with influences from all over the globe, which is expected to smash many negative stereotypes about vegan food and impress many into following a vegan way of life after the event.
With the sheer quality and quantity of food on offer, even the most ardent meat-lovers will be hard-pushed about resisting the allure of all the vegan food, and visitors are advised to arrive as hungry as possible to give yourselves a chance to sample as many varieties as you can!

Caribbean food fans look no further than St Best Caribbean Caterers, who are back at VegfestUK after appearing at a long list of vegan festivals in the UK. St Best serves vegan Caribbean food at its best using natural ingredients. As well as delicious snacks including Vegan patties and Plantain, help yourselves to main dishes such as Chickpea and Sweet potato curry, Callaloo with Spinach and Veggie Chunks all served with Rice and Beans. All gluten-free too.
A sushi roll wrapped with crispy nori sheets and stuffed with juicy vegan ingredients is such a lovely match for what is potentially a warm couple of days on Bristol Harbourside and vegan sushi maestros Happy Maki will be rolling up an abundance of their legendary sushi rolls for their rapidly growing fanbase on the UK Food Festival circuit. Bursting with fusion fillings, Happy Maki’s maki rolls are super addictive and healthy too. Whether you want the Thai Sweet Potato wrap with extra avocado, white or brown rice or fully loaded up with wasabi, Happy Maki provides vegan sushi at its finest.
Indian food aficionados have plenty of Indian vegan food varieties to look forward on the weekend, with local firm Spice up your Life – regulars at the St Nichola’s Market in Bristol City Centre – as well as Yellow Turban Thali set to woo many with their sublime curries. Both will be serving up rich, unexpected combinations of flavours and textures, using fresh, local ingredients to create an exciting selection of vegan curries, as well as samosas and bhajis.

Thai food is renowned for its unique fragrance, balance of spices and herbs in its sauces, and infamous to vegans for its prevalent use of fish sauce at the same time. At this fantastic event, visitors can sample vegan versions of traditional Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, Traditional Thai curries, Stir fries, Sweet and Sour dishes and more at A Taste of Thailand, where Thai style fried noodles will be cooked on a meter wide pan. As vegan Thai food is not as universal in restaurants as we would hope for currently, A Taste of Thailand is not to be missed…
World Food has wowed many with the sheer size and quality of their vegan falafel wraps and salads at previous VegfestUK events and followers here will be delighted to see them return with not only wraps but also the amazingly delicious range of homemade totally ‘vegan’, ‘gluten free’ lentil burgers in a range of flavours all stuffed in a freshly baked traditional flat bread accompanied by a massive range of freshly prepared salads.

Pasta lovers should look no further than the No Horsing Around stand, who will be welcoming visitors with vegan varieties of spaghetti bolognese, Arrabiata, Napolitano, kale pesto pasta, and courgette spaghetti with kale pesto. Also don’t miss their burger, and falafel / sweet potato wrap.

Spanish cuisine is not traditionally renowned for being particularly vegan-friendly. Slowly, however, Spanish cooking is reaching out to the vegan community with beams of sunshine from the heart – particularly at this year’s VegfestUK Bristol, where Spanish Homemade will be serving 2 sumptuous varieties of vegan paella, and La Buenaventura will delight many with their tasty rolls, filled with their homemade vegan chorizo, as well as their vegan Spanish omelette, albeit on the Saturday only.

And how can we do without the British staple of seasoned chunky chips made from freshly deep-fried potatoes? The Hippy Chippy not only serves up chips full of texture but offers these alongside exotic-tasting sauces such as Peri Peri, Cajun spiced, Garlic and Rosemary and of course the Traditional variety, as well as a selection of Dips and Sauces to go with the chips.
Don’t miss the chance to “create your own yummy vegan burger” – just how you want it – at BUN, where there will be a choice of 3 gourmet, organic burgers, Spicy Bean, Mushroom Magic and The Balti Burger. These are served with a selection of organic homemade toppings, tasty olive tapenade, mild tomato salsa, crunchy coleslaw, peanut satay, gorgeous garlic mayo, mango chutney and lovely lettuce. All organic, vegan and gluten-free too.
Visitors will also get a chance to try the Nigerian cuisine of Joll of Rice, vegan Yam Pottage and Vegan Plantain from Flavors of Africa, the pitta, tagine, soup and salads from the organic and vegan Va Va Vegan, as well as Creole vegan bakery from Global Fusion, and a vegan range of Mediterranean recipes mostly working on Greek cuisine from Greek Vegan Deli. Seriously, eating at this year’s VegfestUK Bristol will be akin to a globetrotting experience over a single weekend!

And for a dessert on a hot day at an outdoor festival, what can beat vegan ice cream, vegan crepes and churros? Ice Green is set to come up trumps with their handmade dairy- and gluten-free vegan ice creams, waffle cones and hot waffles with sauces and toppings, whilst The Creperie continues to put smiles on many faces with their delicious traditional French crêpes, both sweet and savoury – all vegan and gluten-free too. Hot Spanish crispy churros made to order coated in sugar cinnamon will be served with vegan chocolate at the Churrromania stand.
Those looking for a cuppa hot drinks will not be left out, as VegfestUK Bristol regulars Super Deluxe Coffee Company will be warming many hearts with their quality fair trade organic espresso, smooth, non-splitting soy lattes and fancy almond milk macchiatos, right at their shiny vintage 1947 Airstream caravan near the main exit. Fairtrade teas and coffees will also be served at The Creperie stand in the Amphitheatre.
Meanwhile, those looking for something refreshing and cleansing to balance out all the cooked food will not want to miss DeFruitBar and Farmacy Juice Bar’s fresh juices and smoothies. These guys will also be serving avocado on toast, raw sweet treats, overnight oats, dahl and flat bread, stunning wraps and salad.
What’s more, there are going to be a number of bars on site serving alcoholic drinks day and night during the whole event which will undoubtedly rev up many party goers for an unbelievable carnival atmosphere.
Pitfield Brewery will be bringing their own vegan pub to Bristol. They will be serving hand pulled and keg craft beer, cider, and wine, Pitfield Eco Warrior, Pitfield 1850 London Porter, Dominion Woodbine Racer and Rose Brew beers (alongside their record player and LP’s to amuse and entertain).
Origami Events will be boshing out premium canned lager, cider and fruit ciders as well as soft drinks. They will also play host to a Pimms Bar where Pimm’s will be flowing available in half pint, pint and by the pitcher at the Pimm’s gazebo. Perfectly served with fresh fruit mint and lashings of Pimms.
In addition to serving Caribbean food, St Best will also have a Rum Cocktail Bar with all the classics which are 100% vegan too, from fresh tropical cocktails to freshly Squeezed Juices, just the right fuels for many to get into a party mood.
In the meantime, Mr Scrumpy will be bringing its own unique frozen cider slush (just think of a slush puppy made of pure cider) and a fresh take on traditional mulled cider to the event.
This is not the end of the story for food addicts, with altogether 180 more stalls open during the day (until 6pm both days) displaying a full catalogue of vegan produce, including “meats”, “cheeses”, “milks”, cakes, chocolates, alongside sauces, oils, dips, marinades, plus other vegan merchandise, clothing, footwear, bodycare, skincare, cosmetics, magazines and much more information to help many embark on a vegan way of life after the event.
